I’m in love with Spring!
So the entire month of March happened, without a single blog entry. How did that happen, praytell?
Well, April’s a happening month for me (my birthday and Bix’s makeshift birthday--since I know not when he was born, and since the vet approximated he was born sometime in April of last year, and his personality is more Taurus than Aries, we’re sharin’ a birthday!), so I shall do makeup posts this month instead.
April means Spring is here (my annual “I’m in love with Spring!” entry to follow)!!! It means being a creature. Sun on my skin (exposed by wearing the more autonomous tank tops, shorts, skirts--and now a kick-ass pair of gauchos!), the green scent of live flowers and plants in the air, warm breezes, tiny baby animals coming out for the first time, scampering away. It smells alive outside! Everything’s just a-poppin’ with life! It’s vibrating, pulsing, breathing...The warm air makes me stand tall, independent, like standing on the deck of a boat or at the top of a hill you’ve just climbed. The brilliance of the sun lifts my psyche, like it weighs nothing. All that exists is sensation alone, no thought. And I’m part of it. It makes me loopy!! Positively high on nature! It’s madness, but the good and necessary kind. The “knowing you’re alive and well” kind.
I heard a song this morning that I thought further tied in--“Nature’s Way” by This Mortal Coil:
“It's nature's way of telling you something's wrong
It's nature's way of telling you in a song
It's nature's way of receiving you
It's nature's way of retrieving you
It's nature's way of telling you something's wrong
It's nature's way of telling you summer breeze
It's nature's way of telling you dying trees
It's nature's way of receiving you
It's nature's way of retrieving you
It's nature's way of telling you something's wrong”
I interpreted this song this way today: I’ve heard several times, from varied sources, that your feelings are your signposts. If you feel the rightness of something singing in the marrow of your bones, then, by all means, embrace it for all you’re worth! Your soul or higher self is nodding vigorously at you. Conversely, if you feel the wrongness of something just digging into your gut, then that means your soul is shaking its head and waving hysterically at you, alerting you to change something. Run away or fight, but CHANGE it. Emotions are nature’s way of communicating with us, as long as we hear their little messages and then let them go, not letting ourselves be seduced by drama. It takes a little silence to perceive them, and then a little more to understand what they’re saying, but ultimately, it is our way, our native language, and we just might surprise ourselves to find that, hey, we CAN still speak it fluently!
Happy Spring, y’all!!
