Score!

Yesterday, driving down my street on the way to work, I saw an oval mirror, the antique kind that is suspended between two posts and can spin around, on the sidewalk. It had a cherry finish. It didn’t have any actual glass in it, but I figured I could get one installed. Unbelievable!! You NEVER find antiques by the side of the road, being thrown away!! I claimed it as mine—grabbed it and put it in the trunk of my car.

Behold...

I love you, mirror.

I suppose there could be some benefits to having a mirror without glass... it will always leave you in blissful ignorance should that last piece of pie go straight to the hips! Although, there is a chance that you could start to wonder if you were a vampire...

Yes...Sometimes we are freer not to know what we look like. We can move and behave according to natural impulses, like creatures, without feeling self-conscious, without posing, like we have a camera watching us, even when we're alone.

I could always put a canvas in the mirror frame--a painting of a reflection of me, or something completely different. THAT would be interesting...
