It's not easy being green
I am a fledgling artist. Not fledgling in my making of art—I have been doing that since I was a toddler—but fledgling in the selling and promoting of my art. Been to college. Graduated with a BFA. Been thrown a few life curveballs. Attempting to get back on track, art-wise. At the moment, I have a couple of paintings of mine on display at a local café--the owner, Urik, being only too kind in letting me put them up and keep them up for a few months now. I am also indebted to an artist friend of mine, Zareh, for introducing me to Urik and starting the whole ball rolling. Thank you again, Zareh!!

Of course, I had to drag every single family member, friend, and acquaintance to see my public debut—they were ALL WONDERFUL in supporting my first venture. Very lucky, am I.
Which brings me to Virtual Canvas. I got a call from a woman who’d seen my paintings at the café. Her company was building a website called Virtual Canvas, to showcase beginning artists who don’t have their own websites, and would I be interested in having my works on it? It’s a virtual gallery for artists, a medium in which to sell one’s artwork via VC (no pun intended...well, maybe a little bit). Being as how I don’t have my own website yet, I decided it would be a good move. So I have the two paintings from the café on the website (“Crawling Towards Babylon” and “Gong Gong [Grandfather]”), and one more that is about to go up at the café, as well (“Bones”). It’s a nice little website for beginners—there are ever-so-slight bugs in it, but it’s still new, still being worked out. For instance, the Search field doesn’t seem to work yet, so if you’re interested in seeing my pieces, just go to Gallery Type: Visual Arts, and pick Artist: Gina—I’m the only Gina there. Easy peas-y. And hell, if you wanna BUY one of ‘em, by all means, DO, but go through VC.
And I won’t bilk the café out of their fair share of commission—I’m nothing if not honest...
